Mama Jean's Walnut Pie Recipe
3 eggs slightly beaten 1 cup of Karo syrup 1/8 teaspoon of salt 1 cup of sugar 2 tablespoons of melted butter or margarine 1 cup of walnut pieces or whole walnuts ( Jean uses 1 & 1/4 cups ) 1 teaspoon of vanilla
Mix ingredients together, adding the walnuts last. Let crust thaw for 20 minutes. Prick bottom and around side thoroughly with fork.
Pour into pie shell. Bake in hot oven ( 400 degrees ) for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake 26 minutes longer.
Filling should appear slightly less set in the center than the outer edges.
If using salted nuts, omit the salt.
